Rowdy
Passed: 2009
Rowdy was a grade horse from out west, shoulder brand and all. I got him the summer of 1996, head shy and hyper. He taught me how to team pen, balance with speed events, bareback, and that falling off wasn't so bad. He always stopped and waited for me to get back up when he turned and I went straight. I never kicked or spurred him in speed events, just simply gave him his head. He always picked his own speed and produced a competitive time.
He was the perfect pal. We picked up friends at their house, went camping, went grocery shopping, went through the drive-thru at Burger King, etc. I couldn't ask for a better friend.
In 2002 he got navicular. With corrective shoeing at the vet's, he was able to walk and run around comfortably without pain for many years. We did a few local speed events, his favorite, and still placed.
In 2008 his navicular had degraded into ring bone and severe arthritis. We took him from casual trail horse to full time pasture pal. In 2009 it got to the point were it hurt for him to walk and soon he didn't care to walk into his stall for food. It was time to make that painful yet kind decision.
I can't thank my parents enough for doing all of the vet visits and care required to give him an extra 6 years of quality life before the navicular became too much for Rowdy. I simply could not have done it without their help!

Noname (yes that is his name)
Noname is the full brother of Fishstick. Noname is also Bella's best buddy. Early April 2012, he didn't come home. We put up missing cat signs all over, posted on craigslist, LSN, went to the local humane societies, and still constantly check petfinder.com to see if he shows up. While we are still hoping for his safe return, we fear something has happened to him. He never strayed far from home and always came when called. Fishstick and Bella miss him very much and have taken comfort with each other.
Sally (pygmy doe)
2004 - Feb 25th, 2015
Our beloved Sally passed peacefully in our house by the fireplace with all of us around her, petting and holding her. She knew she was loved and did not go alone.
Sally was one of our first pygmy goats we got, and the reason we fell in love with pygmy goats. The family we bought her from got her as an adult at an auction. Her age was unknown. They had her for three years before we bought her in 2009. Sally was their favorite and we soon found out why. She knew her name and had a strong personality that no other goat has matched since. We would let her out of the pasture to hang with us and our farm dog, Bella while we did chores. She loved attention and to please everyone. All we had to do was call her name and she would trot back into her pasture for us. When we would be trimming the hooves of a goat she didn't get along with, she took advantage of the situation and annoyingly tapped them over and over while they were tied up. She enjoyed working with kids to learn how to show a goat in showmanship, attended birthday parties, school functions, and enjoyed many treats from friends and neighbors. Animal crackers were her favorite. She passed her spunky attitude onto her children and future generations. Her daughter, Stinkpot, is just as cheeky as Sally and we hold her dear to us more than ever now. Little Pinetree is Sally's granddaughter and full of sass just like Grandma Sally. All of Sally's babies and grandbabies have been loved dearly by their new owners. It's comforting knowing she lives on in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and as of a few weeks ago great great grandchildren. We will try to remember all the wonderful times we had with her, but she will be forever missed!

My little pride and joy!!!
July 18, 2013 was a very sad day. My favorite and most loved girl passed away. We think the heat may have gotten to be too much for her. It is hard walking by her breeding pen and not seeing her there. She has given us many beautiful chicks and will be forever missed!

Annabelle aka Bella
The first photo was what started it all. I received an email from a friend saying "Annabelle is looking for a new home" back in December 2008. She was 7 years old at the time. I saw the photo and instantly fell in love with her. Jon agreed we could get her and soon she had him wrapped around her little paws too. She was such a wonderful, loving pooch that greeted everyone with a big, fluffy smile who stopped by. We were so lucky to have her in our lives for 9 years. Wednesday she was jogging around the farm doing chores with me and the next day she had a bad fall. We gave her rest and pain medicine, hoping she would make a recovery. Friday June 16, 2017 she could not stand on her own and would no longer eat or drink. She made the decision easy to make. She let us know it was time and we had the vet come out right away. She passed away peacefully on June 16th in the shade outside surrounded by the smells and sounds of the farm she loved. It's a huge loss to our family and she will be forever missed. Thank you to everyone who loved our sweet Bella too. She knew she was loved.
